Derbyshire’s UFO Hot Spot.

The tiny village of Bonsall in the county of Derbyshire located in the UK is not the place where you would expect to see ufo’s. Since the early 2000s many unusual sightings have been made, including what appeared to be a “ball of fire”, also bright lights which did not resemble aircraft lights and a man walking his dog described what appeared to be a pink glow hanging vertically in the sky which resembled a shoe box shape.

Probably the most famous sighting made in Bonsall was by housewife Sharon Rowlands who captured a large ufo in 2001 on her new camcorder. The object appeared disc shaped on the other side of the valley appearing to remain motionless on its edge, however it seemed to be aware of the moment Sharon started filming it, as it moved into a horizontal position and approached from the other side of the valley. She went on to describe red lights on its underside which seemed to rotate and other lights which pulsated, all this was captured on film before the object seemed to blink out of existence. However this was not the end of the story as NASA became involved and acquired a copy of the film, reportedly sold to them for £20,000. The reason that NASA was interested in obtaining the footage was because a similar shaped object had been detected in early 1996 when the space agency’s cameras had recorded footage of it during the STS-75 Columbia Space Shuttle mission.

Why this village and the surrounding area attract these objects is not known, even local farmers have reported strange phenomena while working out in the fields. It is known that light pollution is at a minimum here which maybe why more lights are seen in the night sky. However if you are planning to visit Bonsall the Landlord of the local pub, the Barley Mow used to take UFO watchers up onto the moors to see if they could spot anything!
