Winnat’s Pass is a limestone gorge in the Peak District of England. It has a history of myths and legends, especially about a young couple who were murdered there in 1758. According to the legend, Alan and Clara were eloping to get married, but they were attacked by some greedy miners who robbed and killed them, and threw their bodies down a mine shaft.

Their ghosts are said to haunt the pass, and their screams can be heard on some nights. The legend also says that the miners that killed them met with tragic fates, such as accidents, suicide, madness and poverty.

Some people believe that the pass is cursed because of the crime. Winnat’s Pass is also known as Windy Gates, because of the strong winds that blow through it.

It is a popular tourist destination and a challenging cycling route.
